The Italian Lizard Canary Club has always followed the guidelines of the "Lizard Canary Association of Great Britain" and the main purpose of the Club is to maintain, or if you prefer, to preserve the "PURE BRED", therefore the blue lizard has never been admitted to the shows of the Club.
As everyone knows the blue Lizard may be exhibited at all the International
shows and at the World Championships. There are many international shows all
over Italy, in the south at Bari, some shows in Sicily and so on, so the possibility of
confrontation with Blue Lizards are also very many.
One of the major initiatives that the
"Club" tried to introduce
recently has been to increase the categories of Lizard to the FOI’s shows. To expand the categories of Lizard gold and Lizard silver, in the three types of caps
: " Non cap, broken cap, clear cap." This
initiative was rejected this year
by FOI, despite
the involvement of the "old" and of the “new” Technical
Committee. It 's
really a shame. The organizers
of the shows would have more exhibits,
and the breeders would have had the opportunity to bring
many more lizards
with various types of caps,
that they would normally not bring to
the shows.
Also the selection would have been beneficial, we breeders
would no longer be overly driven to achieve clear
caps, with all the deleterious
consequences that may arise.
During the World Championship 2014 in Bari, we held a meeting with some of the European lizard canary clubs and we have agreed to request the COM/OMJ to increase the lizard categories, according to the caps also at the World Championship.

The COM has rejected this proposal as you can read at the end of the
article, on the meeting held between the European technical committees and
reported on the number of Italian Ornithological 8-9 "Three Italians in
Paris."
Returning to the blue lizard, in 2012 the Club organized a satisfaction
questionnaire to be issued to the members whose final result did not authorize
the inclusion of the blue lizard in the programs of the club.
13 members responded by e-mail and 7
by regular mail. Members who responded had kept Lizards between a
maximum of 36 years and a minimum of 1 year.
Couples for breeding ranged from a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 60, an
average of about 18.
Only 9 breed the blue Lizard and 7 of them have kept them from 2 years up
to 19, an average of 8 years. Nearly everyone preferred the classic Lizard, but
two breeders think that blue
Lizards are very beautiful and another two breeders think that the blue lizards are interesting and have a different beauty.
55% (11) believed the blue lizards
are dangerous and the other (9) 45% no.
The justification of the two opposing arguments are: the dominant blue cannot
create genetic problems, however the others claimed that the white gene is alien
to the classic Lizard and can lead to changes in the genome of the classic
Lizard, so could pollute the race.
9 breeders, out of 20 wanted to exhibit the Blue Lizard also at
FOI shows (National) , 12 breeders out of 20
would accept only the blue Lizard
at the international shows.
Finally, 18 out of 20 breeders do not
like the creation of a different club for the blue Lizard as in Great Britain
